Monument Valley

The Mittens and Merrick Butte

I’m recently back from a photography trip to Arizona with a few great friends — the same guys I toured Route 66 with last year. We started in Phoenix, where we convened, then drove to Monument Valley with quick stops in Jerome and Sedona. We spent two nights in Monument Valley: one at the iconic View Hotel, and one night camping on Hunts Mesa, for which we hired a Navajo guide through Monument Valley Safari. Hiring a guide, by the way, is the only way to get to Hunts Mesa. More about that when I get to the images in another post.

The image above is obviously the classic view of the valley from the View Hotel at sunrise.
