St Raymond’s Church II

000  More from Amboy, CA

St Raymond’s Church • Amboy, CA • Day One

I’ve my first pass through my images and stories from Route 66, but I still have a lot of images to share, including this one of St. Raymond’s Church in Amboy, CA, which I originally wrote about here. It remains one of my favorite stops on the trip, probably because the adrenalin was still flowing wildly.

I had forgotten about this image until I popped into my catalog tonight. I vaguely remember framing up the church through the broken windshield of this old Triumph (?) sports car painted for Route 66 (see below) across the street from Roy’s Motel and Cafe.

UPDATE: I learned from my friend and fellow traveler Mike Tully that the car in question was not a Triumph, but a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. Thanks Mike!

Peace

Thanks for stopping by.

000  About This Series

From April 12 through April 20, 2025, I was on a Route 66 Photography Adventure (The Trip) with three good friends and like minded photographers. This series is recap of The Trip in stories and images.

All of the images were shot on that historic road or within a couple of miles of it. Neither the images nor stories are necessarily presented in chronological order.
