Motel Safari

000  with a camel in the window

Motel Safari • Tucumcari, NM • Day Three

Day three was a very busy and productive day on Route 66. As I chronicled here, we spent most of the day hitting some well known Mother Road icons including Holbrook’s Wigwam Motel, Winslow’s (Standing on the) Corner, and ending the day with a mad dash to Tucumcari, NM to photograph the Blue Swallow Motel before the light faded. Time really does fly when you’re having fun.

Across the street and down the road from the Blue Swallow, the Motel Safari caught my eye. It even had a camel statue in the lobby.

How much is that camel in teh window?

000  About This Series

From April 12 through April 20, 2025, I was on a Route 66 Photography Adventure (The Trip) with three good friends and like minded photographers. This series is recap of The Trip in stories and images.

All of the images were shot on that historic road or within a couple of miles of it. Neither the images nor stories are necessarily presented in chronological order.
