The Butterfly Place

I recently visited The Butterfly Place in Westford, MA with my friend, neighbor, and amazing macro photographer Mike Tully. The Butterfly Place is a relatively small facility that houses hundreds of free-flying New England and tropical species of butterflies. For schoolchildren, it is a wonderful place to see butterflies close up and learn about their lifecycle. For macro photographers, it is an excellent place to sharpen your technical skills on a variety of species in a controlled environment — provided there isn’t a busload of schoolchildren clogging up the narrow pathways. Luckily for Mike and me, we had the place almost all to ourselves for a good 90 minutes.
