A Moose in the Tetons

A moose hydrating in the Tetons

This is from a 2024 trip to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks with a couple of the NXNW crew. We were there primarily looking for wildlife. I can’t claim to be a serious wildlife photographer, but I seriously like it, and I want to do more of it.

We encountered this particular moose on our way back to the condo after a long day of photography, and followed him (from a safe distance, of course) down to the river. The moose clearly knew we were there. He looked up at us while drinking, presumably to confirm we were not a threat, then continue to drink his fill.

I positioned myself behind some brush to add a blurred foreground element. With the flat lighting, I opted for black and white processing.
